EXECUTIVE LEADERS
Muscle Athletics operates as a division within the overall structure of the Morton Grove Baseball and Softball Association. Our executive leaders of the Muscle Baseball and Softball serve on the MGBSA Board and also serve as Head Coaches. Each member lives and breathe the game.
Dan Chiado
Dan has served as the President of Morton Grove Baseball and Softball Association since 2018. Under his leadership, MGBSA has implemented a philosophy entirely focused on player development from tee ball through baseball and softball. Since 2018, the MGBSA program has seen continued year over year growth.
Dan also coaches youth baseball and softball, having found his passion for coaching when his oldest son played tee ball back in 2014. Since that time, Dan has coached across baseball and softball, including serving as an assistant coach on both inaugural 10u and 12u Muscle Baseball teams.
Dan's coaching philosophy is deeply rooted in positive reinforcement as the way to connect with youth players. His players are taught to "Embrace Mistakes" as a true leaning opportunity and player development and growth. He preaches fundamentals through focus, determination, and hard work, but maintains a fun atmosphere because baseball and softball are fun!
In addition to his duties with the MGBSA House and Muscle programs, Dan serves as the Head Coach for the 10u baseball team. He is also an active member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and us certified as a coach through USA Baseball.
When not on the fields, Dan works in advertising and marketing, having spent 20 years working for creative advertising agencies. He brings that passion for creativity to the entire MGBSA organization, including the Muscle program. He is a graduate of Indiana University and has lived in Morton Grove since 2010.
SHAWN CHUIPEK
Shawn has been involved with youth baseball since 2014, having served in various roles including head coach at multiple levels. Shawn is a graduate of Maine West High School in Des Plaines where he played multiple sports.
After high school Shawn joined the United States Marine Corps where he not only served honorably but was provided an opportunity to continue his baseball journey playing two seasons as an infielder with the All Marine Team and one season with the Joint Services All Star Team.
Shawn currently serves as the President of Muscle Baseball, overseeing baseball teams at all levels of the program. Dedicated to helping players develop into the best athletes, and individuals they can become, he prides himself in having attention to detail, great communication, and teaching players how to enjoy and play the game the right way.
Shawn is an active member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and “C” level certified (the highest level possible) as a coach through USA Baseball.
In addition to his responsibilities with MGBSA and Muscle Baseball, Shawn serves as the Head Coach for the 13u baseball team.
